What are the current cell phone laws?
Currently a secodary offence meaning if I see you speeding and talking on the phone, I can stop you for speeding and also wright you a ticket for cell phone usage. If you are on the phone and not committing a primary offense, I can not stop you just for that. Craig.

I live by the round a bout wellesley and A street and when there are people on wellesley they do not stop for anyone why is this okay and how can we better protect a person that is in the round a bout due to people do not stop and look when others are in the round a bout. I would like to know what can be done to stop people from almost hitting you. I live right on wellesley and see this happen all the time. Thanks Deputy Craig
There is much frustration on these. Very simple, whoever is in the round-a-bout has the right of way. Basic right of way rules of the road apply to everyone esle waiting to join in. Craig.

I was wondering how close is too close in following another vehicle on the freeway? At what point can one receive a ticket for following too close?
Put it this way. If you are paying 100% attention at 60 mph, all brakes are working correctly and you have to stop quickly, it will take you 300 feet to stop!!! The 3 second rule is usually pretty safe on the freeway. Pick a target, ie street sign, and count 3 seconds between you and the vehicle in front of you. This will give you a "safe" distance if an emergency takes place. I don't know how the state patrol deals with the following distance on the freeway but for me, on arterials if the following vehicle is within 1 car length that is when I stop them and chat with them. Craig.

if a person is declared legaly blind, are they, by law, supposed to be driving a car anywhere?
I am sure DOL would restrict them from driving. If you know of someone doing this you can contact DOL on their web site and find out what actions you can take, especially if it is a family member. Craig.

What should I do about a neighbor parking in front of a fire hydrant all the time. They have been asked to stop but keep doing it?
Call your local agency and we can come ticket them. Here are the regulations for you. Craig.

hello, can you ride a 49cc motorcycle in residental neighborhood.
If you live in the city make sure and check with them. In the county as long as the bike is under 50cc's we treat it like a bicycle. However, I believe the city has a different ordinance on these so make sure to ask them before you ride on the roadway. Craig.

can I park my car at home on drive way in front of my garage for two or three month without license plate. by cancel insurance and give up license plate to vehicle registration office. I trying to save some money on the summer for school for my children after summer
You should be ok, but check with your local law enforcement agency. Here in Washington as long as you don't leave it on the roadway you are ok. You however may have some type of ordinance dealing with your issue so make sure and double check. Craig.

When can a deputy check a persons vehicle?
Good question because the rules have kind of recently changed with this. We use to be able to search inside the vehicle after we arrested someone out of the vehicle. Not any more. Now there has to be a justifiable reason for us to get into the vehicle, i.e. and arrest for drug possession and we are looking for more evidence. Craig.

Another question. If I am a licensed driver and the passenger and the driver is suspended can he park the car for me if I am having trouble parking it?
If you are asking if you can let a suspended driver park your car you are risking having it impounded if something were to happen.

If you get pulled over and get a ticket for failing to register your vehicle but you are in the process of getting it registered ie getting it looked at to pass emissions ect and the car gets registered 4 days later can you contest the ticket or have the it dismissed? thank you!
You can contest any ticket. If you had your vehicles tabs renewed after the ticket than yes, take it to court and show the judge or commissioner that you have new tabs. It's up to them to decide what they do from there but it is worth a shot. Craig.
